| Jan 2006 | The UK Government has just announced a rolling 10 year program of electrification that will see a total of nearly 5000 km of track electrified. The program is a response to the increasing price of diesel and uncertainty over future supplies. Additional locomotives and EMU's will be ordered in due course. |
